Distinguishing Features of the Work

Serves as the Chief Engineer for the Division of Mined Land Reclamation.

Areas of responsibility include reviewing and advising the activities of the Permitting and Technical Services Group concerning engineering reclamation procedures, issuance of all coal mining permits, and the operational aspects of surface coal mining. Incumbent is responsible for supervision of technical work to insure compliance with mining reclamation statutory standards and making recommendations to the Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner under whose general guidance the duties are performed.

 

Qualification Guide

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Registered Professional Engineer, and supervisory or management experience over professional and technical personnel. Knowledge of mining methods and reclamation engineering principles to include knowledge of sediment structures, water conveyance, and geo-technical designs, and the ability to comprehend and interpret Federal and State coal mining laws, regulations, and statutory standards.
