Distinguishing Features of the Work

Performs a variety of recurring park maintenance and operational duties as well as having public contact with park guests.

The incumbent works independently on recurring maintenance and operational duties within the park, and may supervise seasonal laborers in some assignments. Public contact involving interpreting the natural and historic features of the park, facilities offered and rules and regulations are frequent.

Incumbent performs duties and responsibilities under the supervision of a Chief Ranger or Park Superintendent.

 

Qualification Guide

High school graduation, or equivalent, and experience in grounds keeping maintenance, construction or other work that relates to upkeep and operational needs of a recreational or park environment. Additional education in park administration, forestry, wildlife management or a closely related field may be substituted for experience provided no substitution is made for the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
