Distinguishing Features of the Work

Assists the Commissioner in directing the administration and operation of agency programs and objectives.

The incumbent administers the Public Information Office, Planning and Program Development Administration, Hearings Office, and Investigative Services Administration; assumes the role of acting Commissioner in the absence of the Commissioner and discharges the duties and responsibilities of that office. Reviews the employee relations management functions within the areas assigned. Acts as a legislative liaison for the Division.

Work is performed under general direction with wide latitude for independent action.

 

Qualification Guide

Knowledge of large-scale organizational functions related to administrative planning, procedures, systems, laws, and regulations affecting operations; knowledge of management principles and the legislative process. Skill in oral and written communication for business presentations and reporting. Ability to apply accounting and economic principles to the administration of public sector programs; ability to analyze legislative statutes and to develop administrative policies and procedures; ability to monitor social, economic, and political trends and events and to analyze their impact on organizational and statistical data to develop, monitor, and adjust long-range business plans and solve major management problems; ability to develop and monitor support procedures and controls to achieve agency objectives; ability to evaluate the performance of large organizational units; ability to plan and coordinate major organizational activities and to direct individuals in their work.
