CORRECTIONS TRAINING MANAGER 72131 A

 

Distinguishing Features of the Work

Administers all Corrections Department training including training provided at the Department’s academy, and training provided regionally for the staff of local jails, and youth and adult facilities.

Supervises a large staff of technical and other supporting personnel. Work is performed under the general direction of the Department of Corrections’ Director.

Establishes and monitors goals and performance standards for training programs and related support functions. Approves all generic, specialized, and in-service training and curricula, and related expenditures. Administers educational leave and scholarship programs including the development of policies and procedures for executive approval.

Manages the residential academy including food service, buildings and grounds, library, accounting and clerical support. Provides liaison with the Department of Criminal Justice Services, boards, commissions, and professional organizations. Prepares the overall training and professional development budget for agency management approval. Performs employee relations administrative functions.

 

Qualification Guide

Knowledge of needs assessment, curriculum development, and training presentation and evaluation techniques. Knowledge of administrative and personnel management practices. Ability to develop policies, procedures and budgetary plans. Ability to develop and present training curricula. Ability to direct a large staff of technical and other support personnel.

Graduation from a college or university in a field related to instructional training, and experience --including supervisory experience-- related to the position’s duties; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
