Distinguishing Features of the Work

Directs the work of the management analysis and planning, sales and marketing, and warehouse divisions of the Department of Corrections’ Bureau of Industrial Enterprises.

Supervises a diverse staff of administrators, technical specialists and other supporting personnel. Reports to the Bureau head (Corrections Enterprises Administrator).

Oversees long- and short-range planning and development for industrial enterprises and products within the corrections system. Conducts feasibility studies for product planning and customer potential. Studies expansion of existing industries and elimination of those that have run their product lives. Analyzes cost of equipment acquisition and replacement, and estimates the number of inmates to be involved in equipment operation.

Reviews and devises marketing strategies, and sets sales goals. Directs the management of central warehouse operations. Develops management systems and practices to be used throughout the Enterprises Bureau. Develops and administers operating budgets.

Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualification Guide

Knowledge of the manufacturing and marketing of industrial products. Knowledge of general administrative, fiscal and personnel management practices and procedures. Ability to develop objectives, policies and procedures. Ability to coordinate and evaluate the performance of specialized organizational units. Ability to develop and administer operating budgets.

Graduation from a college or university with major coursework in business administration or a related field, and responsible management experience related to the position’s duties; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
