CLASS CONCEPT/FUNCTION

This is the single class in the Transportation Maintenance Worker series. Positions in this class perform a wide variety of unskilled routine repair and maintenance tasks and operate light-duty unlicensed equipment in support of highway maintenance and construction. These positions may also assist Highway Equipment Operators in operating the more complex equipment. This class is distinguished from positions in the Highway Equipment Operator series by its primary responsibility for performing routine manual labor tasks and unlicensed equipment operations rather than operating licensed equipment.
