CLASS CONCEPT/FUNCTION

This is the first class in the Electronic Equipment Installation and Repair series. Positions in this class are responsible for installing and removing mobile and fixed electronic communications equipment; designing and fabricating mounting equipment; and replacing or repairing interfacing equipment related to installation/removal. Repair work generally consists of repairing/replacing cables, wiring, or circuit boards. Duties include mounting the equipment to allow proper operations in state, local, and federal agency vehicles. The work involves designing, fabricating, and fastening equipment mounting brackets, modifying front and rear radio consoles, and using special support devices to maximize the use of limited space when installing equipment. This class is distinguished from the Electronic Equipment Installation and Repair Supervisor by the latter's responsibility to schedule and supervise the work of the Electronic Equipment Installation and Repair Technicians.
