Distinguishing Features of the Work

Provides assistance to customers requiring the technical resources of full service printing.

May supervise clerical support personnel. Reports to a printing services administrator.

Performs duties requiring a technical knowledge of printing in conferring with and assessing customer’ needs, making recommendations, and writing job specifications. Advises customers on format and composition, paper selection, finishing, job delivery and price. Translates customers’ decisions into job specifications, and completes necessary internal forms. Represents customers’ interests in following up on job progress and completion. Handles customer complaints.

Maintains records on progress and status of jobs, production backlog, paper inventory and equipment status. Works with printing shop manager to determine priorities and production methods. Assists in developing specifications for printing work to be purchased from outside vendors. Trains and supervises customer services clerical support staff.

 

Qualification Guide

Knowledge of lithographic printing techniques, materials and equipment. Knowledge of shop resources and production capabilities. Ability to work with customers in preparing detailed job specifications. Ability to coordinate work with printing production personnel. Ability to train and supervise clerical support staff.

Graduation from high school with post-secondary training in a field related to the position’s duties, and related work experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
