Distinguishing Features of the Work

Analyzes development opportunities for minority business firms, and the capabilities of individual firms to benefit from such opportunities.

Reports to the Minority Business Enterprise Deputy Director.

Performs financial and market analyses to identify opportunities for minority firms in areas such as high technology, export, or other new markets. Performs detailed analyses of firm management, financial, and technical capabilities for entering such markets; and works with designated firms to encourage and facilitate entry. Works with public and private sector officials and organizations to promote initiatives for increasing the availability of capital for minority business formation or expansion. Coordinates and implements programs to aid minority entrepreneurs/inventors in developing and marketing their products and services in public and private sector markets.

Researches federal, State, local resources for promoting minority business competitiveness and growth. Makes recommendations for changes or modifications in statutes that will facilitate minority business participation in government procurement processes. Serves as an advocate for minority business generally.

 

Qualification Guide

Knowledge of the principles and practices of business administration and operations including capital formation, finance, marketing and management. Knowledge of contracting and procurement procedures. Ability to establish effective working relationships with a wide spectrum of individuals on various cultural levels. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Graduation from a college or university with major studies in business administration, finance, economics or a related field, and management-level experience related to the duties of the position; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
