Distinguishing Features of the Work

Serves as a specialist in procurement for the State Office of Minority Business Enterprise.

Reports to the Minority Business Enterprise Deputy Director.

Devises and implements procedures for facilitating minority business access to public and private sector procurement opportunities. Plans and organizes training programs on procurement regulations and policies for minority business management. Assists management in determining that their firms have adequate capacity for handling the contracts that are bid on. Works with public and private sector procurement officials to facilitate inclusion of minority businesses in their procurement procedures.

Collects and analyzes related data and statistics. Prepares reports and correspondence. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualification Guide

Knowledge of public and private sector contracting and purchasing procedures. Ability to collect and analyze related data. Ability to work effectively with individuals of various culture levels. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Graduation from a college or university with major course work in accounting, business administration, or a related field, and experience related to the duties of the position; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
