Distinguishing Features of the Work

Acts as liaison between users and data processing personnel in the planning, development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation and maintenance of computerized systems.

Responsibilities include consulting with program staff at the state and local level to ascertain data needs; communicating user requirements to systems analyst; participating in systems design and testing; reviewing systems specifications; writing and updating user manuals; planning and conducting training of program staff; ongoing monitoring of system use by program staff; proposing modifications or enhancements to systems in order to comply with continually changing legislative requirements and changes in agency policies and procedures; analyzing impact of new or modified system on other divisions within the agency and consulting with appropriate division personnel; and researching and responding to inquiries from state and local program staff regarding use of the system.

May report to a systems analyst or agency administrator.

 

Qualification Guide

Prior experience in the administration of state and/or local human services programs including experience with the types of programs in the particular division to which position is assigned, and in the uses of data processing in such an environment. Education in fields related to the management of human services or data processing will be considered in combination with experience.
