Distinguishing Features of the Work

Performs a variety of advanced technical functions in the compounding, preparing and dispensing of medications and other pharmaceuticals.

Duties include the compounding and preparing of the more complex and critical pharmaceuticals, assisting pharmacists in tasks requiring more specialized skills, and the training and supervising of Pharmacy Assistant A’s and clerical or other support personnel.

Reports to a Pharmacist or higher level professional.

 

Qualification Guide

Good knowledge of the names and classifications of drugs according to use, effect and dosage. Exceptional skill and accuracy in drug preparation. Proven reliability and resourcefulness. Ability to direct the work of others.

Graduation from high school and previous pharmacy assistant experience, or college training with courses in chemistry or general science is mandatory.
