Distinguishing Features of the Work

Compounds, manufactures and dispenses drugs, medicaments and other pharmaceutical products and supplies.

The duties are performed with professional independence and responsibility, and may include the management of a pharmacy unit or sub-unit. Supervision of Pharmacy Assistants and other support personnel may also be involved.

Reports to a higher level pharmacist or other medical professional.

 

Qualification Guide

Eligibility for or registration as a pharmacist in accordance with regulations issued by the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy. Knowledge of the manufacture of bulk medicaments, compounding, and the general practice of pharmacy. Ability to train and direct subordinate staff as required.
