Distinguishing Features of the Work

Manages a division of the Department of Housing and Community Development with responsibility for all activities related to the division.

This class encompasses the positions the+ head the three Divisions of: Administration, Housing and Community Services, and Building Regulatory Services. Incumbents are responsible for formulating administrative and operating policies and procedures, coordinating the work of professionals, and monitoring and evaluating the quality and performance standards produced by the divisional sub-units. Wide latitude for independent judgment and action is exercised

General supervision is received from the Director.

 

Qualification Guide

Graduation from a college or university with a degree related to the work of the assigned division, and extensive related work experience. Appropriate training and experience may substitute for the degree requirement.

Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of administrative management. Thorough knowledge of program development in the assigned divisional area. Ability to plan and direct the work of professionals. Ability to coordinate and evaluate the work of sub-units. Effective communications skills.
