Distinguishing, Features of the Work

Supervises the operation of a major program area in the Office of local Development Programs or the Office of Regional Development Services.

Responsibilities include the formulation of policies and procedures for the preparation of general development plans. Supervises the daily work of planners and clerical support personnel engaged in the details of program development. Exercises considerable latitude for independent judgment and action.

General supervision is received from the Office Associate Director.

 

Qualification Guide

Graduation from a college or university preferably with a degree in planning, public administration or a related field, and experience in work related to the program area assigned. Appropriate training and experience may substitute for the degree requirement.

Thorough knowledge of the development and preparation of planning studies. Good knowledge of the practices and procedures-of public administration. Knowledge of Federal and State laws pertaining to planning and assistance programs. Ability to direct the work of others.
