Distinguishing Features of the Work

Performs professional work in a specialized area of planning and research.

Incumbents in these positions are responsible for the completion of major or complex activities in a specific area of planning or research that may require the preparation of comprehensive plans and reports, or the analysis and evaluation of the work of other professionals. Positions may also be utilized in various phases of federal grants administration.

General supervision is received from a Program Manager or Associate Director.

 

Qualification Guide

Graduation from a college or university preferably with a degree in planning, public administration or a related field, and considerable experience in work related to planning or research. appropriate training and experience may substitute for the degree requirement.

Good knowledge of the development and preparation of planning studies. Knowledge of Federal and State laws pertaining to planning and assistance programs. Ability to analyze and evaluate the work of other professionals. Effective oral and written communications skills.
