Distinguishing Features of the Work

Produces individual programs for the Science Museum Planetariwm/Space Theater.

The incumbent will supervise the activities of production assistants and will coordinate activities of technical experts. Supervision is provided by the Planetarium Productions Director.

The work involves subject research, script writing selection Of special effects, selection of sound effects and all coordinative efforts associated with producing a specific planetarium program. The incumbent is responsible to insure that planetarium programs are scientifically accurate and technically correct

 

Qualification Guide

Knowledge of planetarium production methods and technical equipment. Knowledge of astronomy. Skill in research and in script writing. Skill in selection of special effects and sound effects. Ability to organize, coordinate, and produce a planetarium program.

Graduation from a four year college or university with major studies in astronomy or related curriculum, and experience in producing planetarium programs. Training and experience indicating possession of the preceding knowledge, skills and abilities may substitute for college graduation.
