Distinguishing Features of the Work

Performs technical analyses in the development and coordination of telecommunications systems utilized by State agencies and institutions.

Specialties covered may include telephone, television, videotape or related systems. Emphasis is on identifying needs or problems and recommending solutions. Responsibilities include the review of proposals for new or expanded systems, specifications review, and considerable contact with agency and telecommunications industry representatives. May also provide assistance to the Attorney General in matters regarding common carrier telecommunications rates, tariffs and regulations.

Reports to a Communications Engineer.

 

Qualification Guide

Responsible experience in comprehensive engineering design and specification development in a specialty area. Ability to analyze traffic data and translate into communications plans for users. Well developed oral and written skills. Significant relevant experience may substitute for formal education in electrical/ electronic engineering.

Replaces State Communications Services Specialist.
