Distinguishing Features of the Work

Performs basic historical research as directed.

Guidance as to methodology, resources available, and required degree of detail is provided by a higher level historian.

Research is limited to one historical event, person, site, or topic. The work involves researching books, periodicals, manuscripts and other records. Incumbents may perform research and report preparation which results in limited manuscripts of specified topics or may serve as one of several researchers responsible for one aspect of a large historical research project.

 

Qualification Guide

Knowledge of historical research methods. Ability to conduct limited historical research. Ability to prepare written reports.

Graduation from college preferably with a degree in history. Training and experience indicating possession of the preceding knowledge and abilities may substitute for the degree requirement.
