Distinguishing Features of the Work

Assists in providing professional aid to an individual program or service component in the state primary/secondary education system.

Receives direction from an Education Program State Supervisor.

Collects and analyzes data, and makes recommendations for program development. Interprets program regulations, and assists school divisions in planning, developing and evaluating educational programs. Provides program materials and technical assistance.

Assists in designing and conducting research and development projects. Provides technical assistance to other Department of Education services. Assists in preparing reports on educational activities, and in planning and conducting conferences and workshops.

Duties are performed in cooperation with operational level management employees in school divisions, related organizations, and the Department of Education.

 

Qualification Guide

Knowledge of the technical aspects of the program or service component to which assigned. Knowledge of curriculum and program design and evaluation. Ability to interpret policies. Ability to train and provide direction to local staff, and to work effectively with individuals and groups.

Graduation from a college or university preferably with a Master's degree in a field related to the position's duties, and teaching or educational supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Eligibility for, or possession of a valid teaching certificate is preferred.
