Distinguishing Features of the Work

Serves as manager of the Health Regulatory Boards’ compliance unit which is responsible for insuring the adherence of health professionals to statutes and regulations governing their professions.

Provides direction to a subordinate supervisor, field investigative and other supporting staff. Reports to the agency head.

Plans compliance unit objectives. Determines staffing levels and efficient use of staff resources. Develops budget data and controls.

Identifies staff training needs and develops training manual. Develops procedures for improving case management including logging and tracking, management information, and guidelines for case reconciliation and conclusion. Manages case files. Evaluates results of compliance program.

Participates in staff selection and evaluation. Manages assignment and utilization of state vehicles.

 

Qualification Guide

Knowledge of statutes and regulations governing the regulation of health professionals. Knowledge of administrative and supervisory practices and techniques. Ability to plan and administer a regulatory compliance program. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to maintain effective working relationships with citizens and public officials.

Graduation from an approved school of pharmacy, and possession of a state license to practice pharmacy, or eligibility for such a license. Progressive regulatory or investigative experience is preferred.
