Distinguishing Features of the Work

Provides technical assistance in interpreting and applying the Uniform Statewide Building Code and other related programs.

Persons assisted include private citizens, building industry professionals, and other interested parties. Other duties involve conducting training, programs on the content and application of specific code provisions, and serving as liaison between State, Federal and professional organizations regarding building code matters.

Works under the general direction of the State Building Code Administrator.

 

Qualification Guide

Graduation from a college or university with a degree in a related engineering or architectural field and occupational experience in an engineering architectural or building inspection capacity. A combination of appropriate training and experience may substitute for the degree requirement.

Knowledge of basic building construction technology. Ability to interpret and apply State and National building codes and regulations. Ability to interpret and apply State and Federal mandates and legal opinions. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Good physical condition.
