Distinguishing Features of the Work

Investigates complaints or alleged violations of the rules and regulations of various health professional and occupation regulatory boards.

Analyzes complaints received from citizens and/or referred through the appropriate regulatory board. Conducts investigations that may include interviewing the complainant and the health or occupational professional involved, inspecting the premises, examining private and public records, and obtaining subpoenas and search warrants. Cooperates with appropriate law enforcement officials as necessary. Prepares detailed investigative reports for presentation to regulatory boards, Commonwealth Attorneys or the Attorney General’s Office. Serves as a witness in board hearings or court proceedings. May be required to work in an undercover capacity in some situations.

Reports to a senior or administrative investigator.

 

Qualification Guide

Knowledge of investigative techniques. Ability to interpret complex rules and regulations. Ability to conduct routine and complex investigations. Ability to evaluate, organize and communicate data in a concise clear manner.

Related education or training, or prior related experience is preferred.
