Distinguishing Features of the Work

Manages an organizational office unit of the Department of Housing and Community Development with responsibility for all activities related to the unit.

This class encompasses the positions that manage the four Offices of: Analysis and Research, Local Development Programs, Regional Development Services, and Housing Services. Incumbents are responsible for coordinating the work of professionals working in particular program areas. Duties include planning and supervision of all activities and work schedules, and evaluating results. Wide latitude for independent judgment and action is exercised in performance of the duties.

General supervision is received from the Deputy Director and the Director.

 

Qualification Guide

Graduation from a college or university preferably with a degree in planning, public administration or a related field. Appropriate training and experience may substitute for the degree requirement.

Thorough knowledge of planning and development methods and practices. Ability to plan and direct the work of professionals. Effective oral and written communication skills.
