Distinguishing Features of the Work

 

Manages a large Alcoholic Beverage Control retail store typically involving sales to one or more licensees as well as to the general public.

 

Trains and supervises a sizable staff of Assistant Manager and Store Clerk personnel. Reports to an ABC Stores Supervisor.

 

Positions allocated to this class manage stores distinguished by large and varied inventories, high item sales and revenue, diversified clientele, and large supporting staffs.

 

Management responsibilities are more complex than those at the Store Manager A level especially in the areas of inventory management and merchandising, revenue accountability, customer relations, records maintenance, and staff training and supervision. The complexity of providing service to licensee clientele is an additional area of responsibility not generally present in smaller stores.

 

Management functions cover the full range of store operations including merchandise receiving and shipping, shelf and display arrangement, price marking and changing, physical facilities and records management, and staff training and supervision.

 

Confers with the assigned ABC Store Supervisor as required on various aspects of store management.

 

 

Qualification Guide

 

Knowledge of the principles and methods of retail store operations. Ability to oversee and participate in all aspects of the functioning of a high-volume, diversified store including inventory and facilities management, merchandising, training and supervision of a large staff, extensive customer relations, and operating records maintenance.

Graduation from high school and previous experience related to the position’s duties, including experience at the supervisory level; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
