Distinguishing Features of the Work

 

Manages a small to medium-size Alcohol Beverage Control retail store.

 

Trains and supervises Assistant Manager and Store Clerk personnel. Reports to an ABC Stores Supervisor.

 

The responsibilities include all aspects of store operations. Maintains an adequate quantity and variety of inventory for sewing store clientele. Determines shelving, case stacking and signage for the most effective merchandising. Oversees and participates in the receipt and inspection of merchandise, cleaning and stocking of shelves, and price marking. Surveys inventory for slow moving items, and arranges for return to warehouse.

 

Oversees the handling of damaged merchandise, salvage and refunds. Implements price changes. Performs customer relations functions. Oversees maintenance of store and grounds premises. Makes recommendations for repairs and equipment.

 

Trains, schedules and supervises subordinate staff. Ensures competency of Assistant Manager to operate store in Manager’s absence. Assists staff with sales transactions when necessary. Makes adjustments/corrections on sales terminals. Evaluates staff and performs related employee relations supervisory functions. Is responsible for the proper accounting of all revenue collected, and for maintaining all store operating records.

 

Confers with the assigned ABC Stores Supervisor as required on various aspects of store management.

 

 

Qualification Guide

 

Knowledge of the principles and methods of retail store operations. Ability to oversee and participate in all aspects of store functioning including inventory and facilities management, merchandising, employee raining and supervision, customer relations and records maintenance.

Graduation from high school and experience related to the position's duties; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
