Distinguishing Features of the Work

Provides general and specific assistance to Director, Division of Real Estate in accomplishing divisional objectives.

Examples of duties characteristic of positions in this class:

  1. Maintains records reflecting costs of operations for maintenance. Compiles and reports maintenance cost records.
  2. Supervises maintenance functions for department’s property and facilities. Supervises maintenance contractual services. Coordinates telephone installations and/or changes with State Division of Engineering and Buildings. Coordinates with landlords concerning repairs to leased property; maintains standards as required in lease.
  3. Supervises office and maintenance personnel; responsibilities include employment, training, performance evaluation and discipline.
  4. Assists in designing and planning efforts for new structures and alterations of existing structures.
  5. Assists in surveys and investigations of prospective retail outlet locations.

 

Qualification Standards

Graduation from an accredited college or university with major studies in engineering, business, public administration or related fields and two years of related experience, one year of which must have been in a responsible supervisory or administrative capacity. Additional experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent tire basis.

Thorough knowledge of real estate matters; considerable knowledge of building construction and maintenance; ability to deal effectively with landlords, contractors and contractual service operators.
