Distinguishing Features of the Work

 

Directs the cash management and investment function of the Department of the Treasury.

 

Duties include advising the Treasurer and Treasury Board on questions relating to all aspects of these programs. Responsibilities encompass cash management of a General Account aggregating six billion dollars, and a Trust Fund exceeding one billion. Develops policies, procedures, and standards to meet program goals. Monitors and controls attainment of program goals through subordinate program managers. Establishes and maintains communications with the banking community, administrative state agencies, and other agencies that handle significant amounts of cash receipts and disbursements.

 

Reports to the Chief Deputy Treasurer.

 

 

Qualification Guide

 

Knowledge of banking practices relating to cash management. Knowledge of practices relating to large portfolio investment management. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management in both oral and written communications. Ability to direct professional and technical personnel.

 

Graduation from a college or university with a degree in business administration, economics, finance or a related field. An appropriate master’s degree Or Certified financial Analyst designation is desirable. Experience in banking, investments, cash management or a related field. Upper level management experience with professional/technical personnel is preferred. A combination of appropriate training and experience evidencing possession of the preceding knowledge and abilities may substitute for the degree requirements.
