Distinguishing Features of tile Work

Provides executive assistance to the Director and Deputy Director of the Department under whose general guidance the duties are performed.

Areas. of responsibility include: initiating developing and implementing policy, programs and administrative procedures for various Department activities; planning and implementing new functions such as data processing and word processing; assisting in budget formation for the Department and the related independent commissions; reviewing and preparing position papers on proposed legislation affecting the Department; and representing the Director on committees, task forces, special assignments and before other State and Federal agencies and citizen groups.

 

Qualification Guide

Graduation from a college or university with a degree related to the duties assigned, and progressively responsible experience in administrative management. experience directly related to programs involving the conservation and economic development of natural resources is desirable. Responsible management experience may substitute for degree attainment provided there is no substitution for the ability to perform complex analytical work; the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and the ability to interpret and apply the laws. regulations, policies and procedures affecting the Department.
