Distinguishing Features of the Work

Designs, develops, maintains and enhances computer and related manual systems.

Confers with users to define needs. Performs all analytical and programming functions for segments of complex applications, or for complete applications which are less complex. Assignments include the full range of systems development life cycle tasks, but incumbents of this class usually spend a major portion of their time in programming activities.

Reports to a senior programmer/analyst or other supervisor.

 

Qualification Guide

Qualification under any one of the alternatives prescribed for Programmer Trainee, plus significant programming experience and a working knowledge of systems analysis and design concepts. Proficiency in at least one programming language such as COBOL, FORTRAN, PL/1, Assembler or RPG. Ability to communicate orally and in writing with users and other data processing technicians.
