Distinguishing Features of the Work

Positions are allocated to this class to provide for on-the-job and classroom training of persons in the analysis of data systems, and in the development and coding of programs for use in computer applications. Training is also received in such areas as machine components and logic, block diagramming and flow charting. As experience is gained, persons are given increasingly complex assignments involving program coding and documentation.

Typically, incumbents would receive direction from experienced programmers or a programming supervisor.

 

Qualification Guide

Graduation from a college or university preferably with some course work in information systems or computer programming; or receipt of an associate degree in information systems; or graduation from high school with acceptable work experience in data processing operations.
