Distinguishing Features of the Work

Supervises a staff performing microfilming and/or specialized photocopying, together with related duties

Staff supervised includes Photocopy Technicians and other personnel. May report to a higher level technician, record supervisor or other administrator.

Receives incoming documents to be photocopied, and requests for retrieval of data previously copied. Determines priorities, and distributes workload to staff, providing necessary instructions. Monitors work in progress. Keeps daily and other periodic production records.

Trains staff in use of various copying equipment, retrieval terminals and office procedures. Assists with problems. Performs minor equipment adjustments and maintenance. Oversees quality control of work performed. Confers with agency and other user personnel regarding photocopying needs, and procedures for special projects.

Maintains necessary inventories of supplies. Maintains storage areas, and prepares finding aids for locating stored data. Operates photocopying and retrieval equipment as required.

 

Qualification Guide

Knowledge of English grammar and basic arithmetic. Knowledge of the use and operation of sophisticated microfilming and photocopying equipment. Ability to determine priorities and schedule work. Ability to train and supervise the work of others. Ability to work with copying services users.

Graduation from high school and experience related to the position's duties; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
