Distinguishing Features of the Work

Performs specialized photocopying work and related duties as a full time assignment.

May provide supervision or direction to other staff. Reports to a duplicating and printing, or other supervisor.

 

Microfilming

Arranges or verifies arrangement of material to be copied. Determines indexing. Loads or replaces film in camera. Makes adjustments for enlargement/reduction, lighting and contrast. Operates rotary and/or planetary microfilm cameras to copy a variety of materials such as political Jurisdiction and agency records and accounts, computer printouts, and other types of archivals.

Operates a retrieval terminal to obtain previously microfilmed data ln response to user needs. Makes hard copies of data as necessary. Performs minor equipment maintenance to both camera and retrieval devices

Operates equipment for developing, duplicating and splicing microfilm. Ascertains correct amounts of water and chemicals for film development. Inspects developed film visually and with instruments to verify quality. Cleans machines and performs routine maintenance. Stores microfilm. Keeps records of work done in microfilming section.

 

Photocopying

Operates a large, programmable, high-speed photocopying machine with collating, stacking, stapling and other capabilities for handling high volume photocopy work. Receives customer orders, and assists with questions regarding material to be copied, such as type of paper, method of reproduction, and when needed. Establishes work priorities. Programs machine for job desired. Monitors machine functioning, takes care of interruptions and assures quality of finished products. Makes equipment adjustments, and performs basic maintenance. Keeps records of work performed and initiates charges to users. Maintains inventory of supplies. May operate folding, punching and binding equipment as an ancillary duty.

Operates large-format (up to 24 x 36 inches) copiers, including diazoprocesa copiers, to make half and full-scale reproductions of architectural and engineering drawings and plans, sod copies of aerial photographic plate. Copying may be done on regular photographic copying paper or on vinyl film. Sets machines for proper exposure depending on condition of originals. Sets ammonia and water mix for diazo process. Photographs necessary number of copies, and uses large-format collator for assembling sets of drawings and plans. Drills or staples plan sets. Keeps records on work, and performs minor equipment maintenance.

 

Qualification Guide

Knowledge of English grammar and spelling, and basic arithmetic. Ability to arrange work in alpha/numeric sequences. Ability to observe operating instructions for sophisticated copying equipment. Ability to perform high-volume, repetitive manual tasks requiring attention to detail. Ability to perform varying degrees of equipment maintenance depending on specific assignment.

Graduation from high school or a combination of training and experience indicating possession of the preceding knowledge and abilities.
